The Masterclass is a 2-hour session with Q&A led by Casting Director, Lamese Williams.
In a virtual classroom, join Lamese Williams to learn the tools, skills, and knowledge required to take control of your acting career and self-submit.
The term “sides” simply refers to the specific set of lines from the script of an acting project that you must learn prior to an audition. The sides for any given audition may be as small as a few words up to a few scenes or exerpts from a few scenes from the script for a project.
In addition to the lines that are spoken, there may be other instructions or specifications about what is going on in the particular segment(s) or sides from the script for the project. These will typically provide clues to help you make decisions about your character’s delivery of the lines.
A self-submission is an audition tape that you yourself submit directly to casting or a production company. According to Backstage, "A self-submission is like a gift to an actor: you have complete control over your audition. What more could an actor want? You can do it a thousand times before you record and we would never know. So prepare, look great, and make sure that technically we can see and hear you."
Lamese Williams has been the Casting Director on many projects, such as the faith-based film, "A Question of Faith," "Akeelah and the Bee" starring Keke Palmer, and the HBO hit, "Blackout" featuring actor Jeffery Wright.⠀
